 | pintig cultural group spring tour 2001 nanay isog and her children
|
The Pintig Cultural Group is excited to announce the Spring Tour of Nanay Isog and Her Children, an adaptation of Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children. During the Chicago staging in late 2000, theater critics embraced this Filipino adaptation set amid the Christian-Muslim conflict in Mindanao.

tell me more about nanay
Considered by many as being one of Brecht's best plays, Mother Courage, Pintig's production, based on an English translation, tells the story of Nanay Isog, a simple businesswoman who peddles her wares to soldiers fighting on the island of Mindanao. She ignores the death and destruction all around her and instead relishes in her ability to squeeze profits from those on both sides of the conflict. Nanay tragically learns her bounty is eventually made at the expense of her own children. The play is two hours, fifteen minutes in length. Following the performance, most groups request time to interact with the cast and producer in an open forum. The play is fantastic, but don't take our word for it. See the attached newspaper review below.
what does it cost?
The cost for sponsorship is $2,000 per performance, plus additional costs for venue, and Pintig's travel to your city. Generally, selling 250 tickets at $15 each will cover your total costs. Many groups in the past have made additional profits by charging as much as $30 per ticket and selling souvenir program advertising space. By checking the numbers, you'll see how your group can develop a good profit.
what are the next steps?
While producing a theatrical production is usually time-consuming, Pintig will do most of the work. Your responsibilities are mostly to book a local venue and have members sell tickets to family and friends. A complete checklist is available.
